EFFECTIVENESS OF PLANTING MEDIA AND HARVESTING AGE ON GROWTH AND RESULTS OF GREEN MICROGREEN (Vigna radiata L.)

Microgreen is a small plant that can be harvested at the age of 7-21 days after planting which contains 4-10 times more nutrients than adult vegetables. This study aims to determine the effect of planting media and harvesting age on the growth and yield of microgreen mung beans (Vigna radiata L.). This study used 2 experimental designs, namely simple Randomized Group Design (RAK) with 1 factor, namely planting media including nonwoven fabric planting media, 100% fermented cocopeat and 50% fermented cocopeat & 50% husk charcoal and factorial Randomized Group Design (RAK) with 2 factors. Factor one is planting media. Factor two is the age of harvest, including harvesting on days 6, 7, 8 and 9. The planting media treatment of a combination of 50% fermented cocopeat and 50% husk charcoal produced the highest plant height at the age of 4 and 6 hst (17.05 and 19.11 cm). While the planting media treatment of 100% fermented cocopeat produced the highest relative growth rate of 0.05 g.gram-1. The treatment of harvest age on the 8th day gave a significant effect on yield variables including total fresh weight, root fresh weight, total dry weight, the highest root dry weight (75.89 g), (23.30 g), (25.31 g) and (7.81 g). The 7th day harvest age treatment produced the highest crown fresh weight and crown dry weight (53.16 g) and (17.79 g).
