Author Guidelines
General Guidelines
1. Submitted articles must not have been published elsewhere or be under consideration for publication.
2. The editorial team will reject any article showing signs of plagiarism.
3. Articles written under the guidance of JASE should be submitted via the Online Submission System using the Open Journal System (OJS) at http://riset.unisma.ac.id/index.php/jase. Select the appropriate submission procedure and register as an author using the "Register" menu.
4. The article’s template and guidelines are available in MS Word (.doc) format and can be downloaded here.
5. Articles not following JASE guidelines will be returned to the author before the review process.
6. Articles should include several sections: (a) title, (b) author's name (without academic titles), (c) author's institution, (d) author's email address, (e) abstract and keywords, (f) introduction, (g) methods, (h) results and discussion, (i) conclusions, and (j) bibliography.
7. Subtitles in the introduction, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion sections should be numbered and written in bold, left-aligned, with no underlining. Use a second-level numbering format for subtitles.
8. Articles should be written in standard Indonesian and formatted to A4 size paper (21 cm width, 29.7 cm height) with 2.5 cm (Top), 2.5 cm (Left), 2.5 cm (Bottom), and 2,5 cm (Right) margins.
9. Article text should use the following font styles: Times New Roman font, 14 pt for the title, 12 pt for the author's name, 10 pt for the author's institution and email, 11 pt for the abstract and keywords, 12 pt for the body of the article, and 10 pt for table/picture/graph captions.
10. Non-English words should be written in italics.
11. Each paragraph should start 12.5 mm from the left margin, with no space between paragraphs.
12. Tables and figures should be placed in the text immediately after the referenced table or picture. Each image should have a caption below it, numbered, followed by the image title. Tables should have a caption above them, be numbered, and be followed by the table title. Tables should not contain vertical lines; horizontal lines should be used sparingly, only for important points.
13. Ensure that the attached images are of high quality (appropriate font size, resolution, and clear outline). Figures, tables, and charts should be centred within the text. If larger, they can be placed in the middle of the page.
Guidelines for Writing Article Bodies
1. Title: The title should be concise, specific, and informative, reflecting the topic, context/population, and key variable or method. It should be written in Title Case and must not exceed 20 words. [Times New Roman, 14]
2. Author Identity: List the authors’ names without academic titles, followed by the affiliation, full address, and email of the corresponding author. [Times New Roman, 12]
3. Abstract: The abstract must be written in English in a single paragraph of approximately 200–250 words. It should clearly state the background problem, the novelty/research gap (what this study does differently), the methods, the key findings (include main numbers where possible), and the conclusion/implications. Citations should not be included in the abstract. [Times New Roman, 11]
4. Keywords: Provide 3–6 keywords separated by semicolons (;). [Times New Roman, 11]
5. Introduction: The introduction should explain the research context and importance, describe the problem/phenomenon, summarize relevant literature, clearly state the research gap and novelty, and end with the objectives or research questions. [Times New Roman, 11]
6. Methods: The methods section must describe the research procedures clearly and reproducibly, including population and sampling, data sources and data collection, variables/measurements, and data analysis/model specification. Avoid presenting widely known statistical formulas; instead, explain the approach and cite relevant references when necessary. [Times New Roman, 11]
7. Results and Discussion: Present findings clearly and logically and discuss them in relation to the objectives and previous studies. Emphasize the novelty of the results, interpret their meaning, and describe theoretical and/or practical implications. Tables and figures may be included when relevant and must be cited and explained in the text. [Times New Roman, 11]
9. Conclusion: The conclusion should directly summarize the main findings, explicitly state the novel contribution based on the results, and provide key implications or recommendations. Do not introduce new data or new references in the conclusion. [Times New Roman, 11]
10. References: Use APA Style (recommended APA 7th Edition) consistently and ensure all references are traceable (preferably with DOI). The manuscript should include at least 20–25 references, cite at least five articles from reputable international journals, and cite at least one relevant article previously published in JASE. Using a reference manager (e.g., Mendeley) is recommended. [Times New Roman, 11]
Plagiarism Check Requirement (Similarity Report)
To ensure academic integrity, authors must submit a plagiarism/similarity report generated using Turnitin or an equivalent similarity-checking tool. The similarity report should be uploaded during submission in OJS as a Supplementary File and clearly labeled “Similarity/Plagiarism Report – [First Author Name]”. JASE applies a similarity threshold of no more than 20% overall similarity and no more than 5% similarity from any single source. In evaluating the similarity index, the editorial office will interpret the report carefully, may exclude the References/Bibliography and direct quotations, and may also apply a minimum match length (e.g., short matches) to avoid inflated similarity scores. Manuscripts that exceed the stated limits or indicate inappropriate overlap may be returned to authors for revision or may be rejected during the initial screening.
Quotation and References
Quotations must include the source and use a reference manager such as Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero.
Author Fees
JASE applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) to support the editorial management, peer-review process, and online publication of accepted manuscripts. The APC is payable only after the manuscript is formally accepted for publication. The standard publication fee is IDR 1,500,000 per accepted article. Authors who require accelerated handling may choose the Fast Track service with an APC of IDR 2,000,000 per accepted article. For international (foreign) authors, the APC is waived and set at IDR 0.
The editorial office will provide payment instructions and further administrative details after acceptance.
