EFEK PENGGUNAAN POLYETHYLEN GLYCOL (PEG) DALAM RANSUM KONSENTRAT MENGANDUNG DAUN KABESAK PUTIH (Acacia leucophloea) TERHADAP PRODUKSI GAS DAN TOTAL VFA IN VITRO

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menentukan efek polyethylene glycol (PEG) sebagai penghambat aktivitas tannin dalam ransum konsentrat mengandung daun kabesak putih terhadap produksi gas in vitro dan produksi total asam lemak terbang (T-VFA). Penelitian menggunakan metoda teknik produksi gas. Perlakuan yang diterapkan adalah level penggunaan daun kabesak putih dalam ransum konsentrat dengan penambahan PEG. Perlakuan dimaksud adalah : R1: 10% daun kabesak putih, R2 : 20% daun kabesak putih, R3 : 30% daun kabesak putih, dan R4: 40% daun kabesak putih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan berpengaruh nyata terhadap produksi gas dan total VFA ransum. Potensi produksi gas (mL/500 mg BK) dan laju produksi gas fraksi tak larut (mL/jam), dan produksi gas 48 jam (mL/500 mg BK) tidak menunjukkan perbedaan diantara perlakuan. Produksi T-VFA menunjukkan perlakuan R1 dan R2 nyata lebih tinggi dibanding perlakuan lainnya. Disimpulkan bahwa Penambahan Polyethylene glycol (PEG) dalam ransum konsentrat mengandung daun kabesak putih meningkatkan produksi gas in vitro dan produksi asam lemak terbang (T-VFA). Keberadaan tannin dalam daun kabesak putih dapat dihambat dengan keberadaan PEG sehingga fermentasi ransum menjadi meningkat.
