The low scores of the Test of Arabic as a Foreign Language (TOAFL) among students of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) at the University of Islam Malang (UNISMA) indicate a gap between the Arabic language learning process and the competency demands measured through the TOAFL examination. This study aims to explore the challenges faced by students in taking the TOAFL test and to formulate effective learning strategies for improving TOAFL scores. The method employed is qualitative-descriptive, using an approach that includes analysis of TOAFL score values, interviews, observations, and document studies. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and analytically, referring to theories of Arabic language error analysis and methodologies of Arabic language skill learning. The findings reveal that the main obstacles faced by students include: limited mastery of vocabulary and grammatical structures, insufficient practice in listening skills (istima‘), language anxiety, and misalignment between learning materials and the TOAFL format. Based on these findings, strategies recommended for score improvement include intensive reading, listening, and viewing practices, application of communicative approaches, development of error-based practice modules, regular simulations, utilization of digital media, and academic mentoring.
