Peran Apoteker dalam Pemilihan Obat Halal dan Aman bagi Pasien

Abstract

Indonesia, as a country with a Muslim majority population, has a need for pharmaceutical services that not only guarantee the safety, quality, and efficacy of medicines, but also fulfil halal requirements. The implementation of the Halal Product Guarantee Law has made the halal status of medicines an important issue in health services, while the number of halal-certified medicines is still limited and the knowledge of the public and health workers regarding halal pharmaceuticals is not yet optimal. This study aims to examine the role of pharmacists in selecting and administering halal and safe medicines for Muslim patients. The method used is a systematic review with literature searches on the PubMed and Google Scholar databases using the PICO framework. Articles were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, then analysed qualitatively according to the PRISMA guidelines. The results of the study show that pharmacists have a strategic role in evaluating the halal status and safety of medicines, educating patients, and supporting shared decision-making in the selection of therapy. The discussion shows that although pharmacists' attitudes towards halal medicines tend to be positive, there are still gaps in practical knowledge, limitations in standard guidelines, and a lack of adequate information regarding the halal status of medicines. In conclusion, strengthening the role of pharmacists through education, continuing training, and the development of guidelines for selecting halal and safe medicines is essential to improve.
