PUBLICATION ETHICS 

Andragogi: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam is a peer-reviewed scientific journal in which submitted manuscripts are evaluated by experts prior to publication. This journal is dedicated to publishing scholarly articles on Islamic Education from various perspectives in accordance with the themes determined by the editorial board. It is available online with ISSN 2655-948X and published twice a year, in May and November. Andragogi aims to serve as a forum for disseminating research ideas and findings in the field of Islamic Education and to become a primary reference for scholars in the same field.

Andragogi is committed to maintaining high ethical standards in all aspects of scholarly publishing, including responsibilities of authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher. This statement is based on the  Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

 

ETHICAL GUIDELINES FOR JOURNAL PUBLICATION

The publication of an article in Andragogi: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam is a fundamental component in the development of a coherent and respected body of knowledge. It reflects the quality of the authors’ work and the institutions supporting them. Peer-reviewed articles ensure adherence to scientific methods; therefore, it is important to establish ethical standards for all parties involved in publishing: authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and the academic community.

As the publisher of this journal, the Islamic Religious Education Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Religion, Universitas Islam Malang (Indonesia) takes its guardianship responsibilities seriously and upholds ethical standards throughout all stages of publication. The Faculty affirms that advertising, reprints, or other commercial revenue do not influence editorial decisions.

 

PUBLICATION DECISIONS

The editors of Andragogi: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam are responsible for deciding which manuscripts will be published. The decision is based on the manuscript’s scholarly merit, validity, and relevance to the journal's scope. Editors may be guided by the journal’s policies and are bound by legal requirements concerning libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editorial decisions may involve consultation with other editors or reviewers.

 

PLAGIARISM SCREENING

Authors are responsible for submitting manuscripts that are free from plagiarism and academic malpractice. The editorial team conducts plagiarism checks prior to publication. Screening is performed first using an offline database maintained by the Department of Islamic Education, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Islam Malang, and subsequently through available online databases.

 

FAIR PLAY

Editors evaluate manuscripts based solely on intellectual merit, without discrimination based on authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political perspective.

 

CONFIDENTIALITY

Editors and editorial staff must maintain confidentiality regarding all manuscripts submitted to the journal. Information may only be shared with the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher when necessary.

 

DISCLOSURE AND CONFLICTS OF INTEREST

Unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts must not be used in an editor's own research without explicit written permission from the author.

 

DUTIES OF REVIEWERS

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists editors in making informed decisions and helps authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

Promptness

Reviewers who feel unqualified or unable to complete a review promptly should notify the editors and withdraw from the review process.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They may not be shared or discussed with others except with authorization from the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Reviewers should articulate their views clearly and support them with arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify uncited relevant literature. Any similarity or overlap between the manuscript and other published works should be reported to the editors.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information obtained through peer review must remain confidential and must not be used for personal gain. Reviewers should decline manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist due to competitive, collaborative, or other relationships.

Review Process

Each manuscript submitted to Andragogi is reviewed independently by at least two reviewers through a double-blind review process. Publication decisions are based on reviewers’ recommendations. In certain cases, a third reviewer may be consulted before a final decision is made.

 

DUTIES OF AUTHORS

Reporting Standards

Authors of original research must present an accurate representation of the work performed and objectively discuss its significance. Data must be accurately presented, and the manuscript should include sufficient detail for replication. Fraudulent or intentionally inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. If the work of others is used, it must be properly cited and quoted.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not publish manuscripts representing the same research in more than one journal. Submitting a manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously is unethical.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Proper recognition of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have significantly influenced their research.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have significantly contributed to the study. Others who contributed in supporting roles should be acknowledged. The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that may influence the interpretation of their work. All sources of funding must be acknowledged.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If authors discover errors in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal editors and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions.
